Ophelia Reclaimed: A Crossbody Pouch for Trans Joy

Ophelia Reclaimed: A Crossbody Pouch for Trans Joy

I've always been obsessed with Ophelia.

You know the one. John Everett Millais' painting. The Pre-Raphaelite icon. The woman floating in the water, surrounded by flowers, drowning in tragedy.

When I visited the Tate Britain, I stood in front of that painting for a long time. And I thought: what if Ophelia didn't drown? What if this wasn't tragedy, but transition? I swear I thought this before Taylor Swift revisited it too! (but hey, I'm a total out SWIFTIE so I reclaim the Fate Of Ophelia song as a sound track for my artworks)

Ophelia, rewritten

That's how my Balboize series was born. Watercolor reinterpretations of Ophelia, reclaimed and reimagined as transmasculine bodies.

One emerging from the water — alive, breathing, joyful.

One submerged — not tragic, but suspended in quiet trans joy, like my "New Perimeter" drawings.

This is not drowning. This is transition. This is reclamation.

Now you can carry Ophelia with you

I've printed both watercolor reinterpretations on a structured faux leather crossbody pouch. One image on each side. A wearable piece of queer art that transforms a Pre-Raphaelite icon into contemporary trans narrative.

Perfect as:

  • A travel pouch for cables and chargers
  • An art supply organizer
  • A carry-all inside your backpack or suitcase
  • A crossbody statement piece
  • A ritual object for everyday life
